The signing of Rodgers-Cromartie and former Seattle Seahawk Walter Thurmond has made the secondary probably the Giants' deepest unit. Safeties Antrel Rolle and Stevie Brown are back along with cornerback Prince Amukamara, who sustained a groin injury last weekend that he does not consider serious.
The 28-year-old is in the prime of his career and he gives the Giants probably their best shutdown cornerback in years. Now entering his seventh season, Rodgers-Cromartie makes plays. He has 19 career interceptions, including five returned for touchdowns.
After that season he was traded to Philadelphia for two so-years with the Eagles before signing with the Broncos.
NOTES: Second-year safety Cooper Taylor will need surgery to repair a foot injury sustained last weekend against Indianapolis,NFL Jerseys Outlet, making him a candidate for injured reserve. ... The starters are expected to play a half on Friday night against the Jets. OT Wlll Beatty probably will play 20 snaps in his second action of the preseason, the same as CB Trumaine McBride, who also played for the first time last weekend. . ... CBs Prince Amukamara (groin) and Jayron Hosley (foot), WRs Beckham (hamstring) and Trindon Holliday (hamstring), OL Charles Brown (shoulder) and James Brewer (back), RB Peyton Hillis (ankle foot) and TE Xavier Grimble (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday and probably won't play Friday.
Playing with Rolle should also help Rodgers-Cromartie. The two were teammates for two seasons in Arizona, and Rodgers-Cromartie had six interceptions and made the Pro Bowl in 2009 with Rolle playing behind him.
"He is a really good player," wide receiver Victor Cruz said Wednesday. "He is instinctive and through coverages,Cheap Jerseys China, he is able read what route combinations are coming."
Rodgers-Cromartie believes this unit will gel quickly.
Coach Tom Coughlin believes Rodgers-Cromartie can be a playmaker for the Giants,Wholesale Jerseys China.
"(He) catches the ball well, he's aware of where the ball is,Jerseys NFL Wholesale, when it arrives," the coach said. "He's very good at that."
On the field, Rodgers-Cromartie continues to impress. The former Tennessee State star showed tremendous closing speed and leaping ability in nearly intercepting a deep pass for Mario Manningham on Monday, and he has been stingy in letting receivers catch balls in his area.
Rodgers-Cromartie is coming off a season in which he played in the Super Bowl after signing with Denver as a free agent. He played in 15 regular-season games, with 13 starts at right cornerback. He finished the season with 31 tackles, a team-high 15 passes defensed, and tied for the team lead with three interceptions, including one of Eli Manning passes late in the second quarter in Denver's victory over the Giants at the Meadowlands on Sept. 15.
"I don't have any expectation or goals," Rodgers-Cromartie said last week. "I take each week, week by week, and just go out there and improve myself and the team. I would say I want to lead by example. I am not much of a talker. I don't really like to talk. I am a quiet, keep to myself kind of guy."
The Giants didn't have a cornerback who did that last season. Trumaine McBride led the group with two interceptions.
It's the kind of play the Giants will need this season if they want to get back to the playoffs for the first time since winning the Super Bowl in February 2012.
That was true this week as the Giants (3-0) prepared for their annual preseason game against the Jets (2-0) at MetLife Stadium. Rodgers-Cromartie turned down an interview request from The Associated Press on Wednesday despite some urging from the team's public relations staff.

"When you are young, it takes time,Jerseys China," he said. "I could say that with Walt coming over, me, 'Trel and already having Prince and Stevie. All of those guys still being here has made it (a smooth transition) because we understand their game plan and have adapted to the Giants way."
Eli Manning faded back and launched a long pass downfield for first-round draft pick Odell Beckham Jr., only to see Rodgers-Cromartie intercept the ball and return it.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — On the first day of training camp, well-traveled cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie showed why the New York Giants signed him to a five-year,Wholesale Jerseys Cheap, $35 million contract in the offseason.

"It's awesome. They don't know where we're going to be," defensive end Everson Griffen said. "We could be on the right. We could be on the left. It shows how much talent we have on this team and how they're going to use us within the scheme."
"We're going to worry about Tom Brady first, and then we'll worry about the guys after that,Nike Shox Women Clearance," Robison said.
"I know at the end of the day they only had six points, but I'm a guy who has pride in myself. I want to be the best. And I want us to be the best defense," he said.
The system Zimmer uses is a basic 4-3 setup, but it's built around frequently shifting alignments designed to keep the offense guessing. The disguises sure worked well in St. Louis.
That might explain some of the temperance of enthusiasm.
The revamped Minnesota Vikings defense could hardly have made a better 2014 debut.
But look back at the scoreboard. This was an unquestionably encouraging start.
Yikes,Cheap Air Max 90 Kpu Sale.
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — One touchdown. Two interceptions. Five sacks. Six forced punts. Six points allowed.
The defense that allowed an NFL-most average of 30 points per game, albeit against a team that turned to third-string quarterback Austin Davis in the second half, was downright dominant.
Griffen, outside linebacker Anthony Barr and defensive end Brian Robison moved around to different spots often. Free safety Harrison Smith picked up a sack on a blitz from the outside,Air Max 97 Silver Bullet Mens, and Zimmer said the lopsided score in the fourth quarter prompted a reduction in the amount of times they sent a linebacker or a defensive back as an extra pass rusher.
"Anytime you can go out there and not play a perfect game and have the result that we had, it kind of boosts your morale," Robison said.

"Clearly there were many, many, many things that we have to clean up in order to be a good football team or to get to my expectation levels and the team's expectation level," Zimmer said. "But it was a good start, and we look forward to try to build on what we've done."
"It's nice not to come in here and apologize things away," linebacker Chad Greenway said on Monday.
Even with Sam Bradford, whose knee injury knocked him out for the year, at quarterback the Rams have an ordinary-at-best offense that finished with the third-fewest total yards in the league last season. After backup Shaun Hill hurt his quadriceps, Davis, a third-year undrafted player from Southern Mississippi,Argentina World Cup T-Shirts, took over.
The longest running play by the Rams went for 7 yards. Of the 318 total yards allowed,Atlanta Hawks Jerseys, 109 of them came late in the fourth quarter after the Vikings built a 27-3 lead. Only once did the Rams advance past the 20-yard line.
Five weeks from now, the sample size on the Vikings defense will be more accurate. In consecutive games starting this Sunday, they must face the following quarterbacks: Tom Brady (New England), Drew Brees (New Orleans),World Cup Jerseys, Matt Ryan (Atlanta), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay) and Matthew Stafford (Detroit). About the only member of the NFL's elite missing from that list is Peyton Manning.
Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was bothered by the late yards the Vikings gave up.
"If we can be unpredictable and not allow them to just game-plan every single person on the field, put us in different positions, have different blitzes, show different ways and things like that," Robison said, "it keeps them off balance."
Seven new starters are only part of the new look that the Vikings defense took into the season.
They rotated their defensive linemen even more than in the past, with seven of them playing 25 percent or more of the snaps on Sunday.
Mike Zimmer's first game as a head coach, a 34-6 victory by the Vikings at St. Louis, featured plenty of positive signs from a team that stumbled to a 1-7 start last year and finished in last place in the NFC North at 5-10-1.
